Good Time Charley's

Good Time Charley’s has been on the corner of South University and Church Street since 1979. They serve decent bar food (sandwiches, fries, etc.), which you’re probably less than interested in. What’s more interesting to Ann Arbor’s vampires is their cheap, extensive, and powerfully alcoholic drink selection, and the uninhibited college students with daddy’s credit card consuming them. After the Invictus started restricting access to frat parties ten years ago, Charley’s became the lynchpin of Ann Arbor’s Rack, largely thanks to its proximity to other student dives The Brown Jug, The Blue Leprechaun, and Rick’s American Cafe.

You can find a little bit of history and their drink and shooter menus here. Take note of the Longest Islands: they’re served in 2-quart mason jars and they sell quite briskly.

Harpy and shooter mixer extraordinaire Katy Greene works here. If you ask her to “be gentle with it”, she’ll mix in just enough Vitae to keep you from upchucking your drink.
